THE TOILE
The first sample:
bespoke to myself
This full toile is iteration 1 and 2, the complete look, which was designing pants and suit jacket from my Sophomore Year Studio course. Prior to making “the pants” (previous project), I learned how to create a suit jacket and pants from scratch with my measurements.
With the jacket, it was incredibly tedious readjusting and repatterning the sleeves. I found it to be the most challenging aspect of the garment. I had to repattern three times due to sleeve cap height being off, too far forward, and being too narrow. Another aspect I learned during the process of the jacket is how to properly create a lapel.
Moving onto the toile pants, it was much more quicker process. I had made pants previously and had some knowledge of how to pattern the pants. The issue I ran into was the fly height, I had made it too small so the pants are more of a mid-rise than a high rise. For the toile's technical aspects, I used a safety pin closure for the fly and did not include pockets. I also had marked with blue marker where my adjustments will be made for the repattern going into iteration 3.
