The Vinyl player Pendant
For my Intro to Jewelry Metals & Making Class final project, we were tasked by our professor Susan Hoge to create a pendant with significant meaning from music, or a piece that is inspired from our previous works in other classes. I chose my inspiration from one of the founders of Techno, Juan Atkins, and how he plays all his sets live (electronic) and on vinyl.
This full copper turntable pendant features multiple soldering techniques and different metal thickness', such as:
20 gauge Ca hollow soldered box
14 gauge Ca riveted disk with etching (record grooves - record can spin freely)
18 gauge Ca tone-arm wire
20 gauge Ca anti skate/cue lever (sweat soldered)
14 gauge Ca wire needle (post : pick soldered)
20 gauge Ca play button (sweat soldered)
14 gauge Ca tempo slider (sweat soldered)
Ca 18in ball chain
Magnetic tumbler polished
